Southlands Tsawwassen  Apiary

Purpose

Southlands Apiary, situated on Southlands Drive, is a sanctuary where beehives are maintained for a colony of honeybees. Pollinators are a vital part of our community, playing a crucial role in meeting our agricultural needs by pollinating various fruits, vegetables, and nuts. This direct impact on our food supply underscores their importance. Their work fosters a healthy ecosystem and sustains the essence of animal and human life.

Southlands Beekeeper Julia Common, who has decades of experience, spearheads the stewardship of the apiary.

Bee Well Project

Bria Seniors Living Communities are key partners in bringing the apiary to life, pioneering  The Bee Well Initiative, which fosters a sense of purpose and connection with their senior residents through their dedicated sponsorship and care for four hives at the apiary. Bria Community residents will witness the fruits of their labour come to life with honey harvests. This collective effort aims to mitigate the threats facing bees and other vital pollinators.
